Abortion services
This section provides you with all of the information you need on Abortion services in Leeds.
Since April 2010 women in Leeds who are eligible for NHS treatment can self refer to abortion services. This means they no longer need to go through their GP or Contraception & Sexual Health Service (CASH) for a referral*. A trained member of staff from the service you choose will provide you with infomation on different options to help you reach an informed choice.
Referrals can still be made by your GP, CASH or other professionals supporting you.
*Two medical signatures are still required in order to proceed with an abortion
What women can expect from these services:
•An appointment for consultation within 5 working days of calling the service
•An appointment for procedure within 2 weeks of calling the service
•A consultation to discuss future contraception needs.
